Friday night was great for fantasy baseball! Lots of games took place and our fantasy lineup turned out to be a winner. If you’re looking to place a lineup in for the early slate of games on July 16, 2016 then consider using the one we’ve provided below. This lineup will only include the early slate of games (4 games) which includes games between Bos/NYY, Tor/Oak, Hou/Sea and Bal/TB. On a side note if you plan on starting anyone from the Boston/New York game then check the weather since rain is in the forcast.
Pitcher – Some of the games tomorrow have loads of really solid players in their rosters. Chris Tillman ($10.6K) for Baltimore probably looks the best to me. Aside from him, R.A. Dickey ($8.3K) with Toronto could also be in for a solid showing. If you’re looking to go cheap then I could see CC Sabathia ($6.9K) as a sleeper going against the Red Sox.
Catcher – The catcher position is always tricky and with the game selection in the early slate tomorrow things don’t look much better. The only catchers with much potential will all be later in the batting order for each team. Austin Romine ($2.7K) is not a bad option considering he’s up against a left handed pitcher and hits better at home than he does away. Aside from him Sandy Leon ($2.7K) has been batting extremely well this year. Although he doesn’t have many home runs, his hitting percentage is pretty high!
First Base – Unlike the catcher position there is usually a ton of good first basemen to choose from. With so many out there you may want to think about trying to spread different guys up among multiple lineups. David Ortiz ($4.9K) is probably the obvious favorite. But, he’s expensive, doesn’t hit well when playing away, and lots of people will be playing him. Instead, I’d look at playing Alex Rodriguez ($4.5K) as a much better and more affordable option. Dae-Ho Lee ($3.2K) would be my pick for those looking to spend less in this position.
Second Base – When it comes to second base I’m sure in this small selection of games most people will be jumping to Jose Altuve ($5.1K). He’s definitely not a bad choice, but isn’t going to be cheap. At the same time, his cost is lower than Robinson Cano ($5.3K) and he’s been hitting good during away games this year. I’d probably stick to one of these two guys, but if you are playing a GPP or looking to spend less you could also consider Devon Travis who is only $3.9K.
Third Base – There are quite a few options out there when it comes to third base. Just as with first base, I really like the match up that Alex Rodriguez ($4.5K) has today. His price is pretty good too! Kyle Seager ($4.7K) is pricey, but also really favorable against the same team he put up 12pts against on Friday. Manny Machado ($4.4K) is another option, while I would look at Evan Longoria ($3.2K) if you need to go cheap!
Short Stop – I think Manny Machado ($4.4K) is a good pick for third base. I also think he’s a solid pick for short stop as well! Carlos Correa ($4.4K) is the same price and could put up some numbers as well, but I would personally still take Manny out of the two. If you are looking to punt or go cheap in this position then I would say Ketel Marte ($2.6K) makes a very attractive option!
Outfield – There are plenty of different options in the outfield today. Some really affordable guys could light up the scoreboard if you ask me! Carlos Beltran ($5K) and Michael Saunders ($4.7K) would be my top picks for cash games. These guys are expensive but could have huge games today. For those in GPP’s and looking to spend a little less, Colby Rasmus ($4.3K), Seth Smith ($3.7K) and Josh Reddick ($3.3K) are excellent picks with the last two costing less than $3.5K/each!
